New Android closed-testing round

Help launch Fuel Finder on Android.

The new closed-testing round needs Android users. Try the app on your everyday journeys, stay opted in for at least 14 consecutive days and tell me what works and what needs improving.

Registration here is the first step. I add your Google Play account to the closed-test list and email the invitation. You then opt in through Google Play and install the app.

The useful parts of Fuel Finder, built for Android.

The test covers the main app, the glanceable home-screen experience and the features designed for use in a compatible car.

01

Native fuel search and maps

Search by place or location, compare nearby reported prices and move smoothly between the map and station details.

02

Home-screen fuel widget

Choose the area the widget watches and see useful nearby fuel information without opening the full app.

03

Android Auto station discovery

Find suitable stops with cheapest, nearest and best-value ranking through a driving-friendly interface.

04

Vehicle-aware recommendations

Use vehicle fuel defaults and remaining-range awareness to make nearby station suggestions more relevant.

A short list of practical requirements.

You do not need Android Auto to take part. Testing the phone app and widget is useful on its own.

From registration to testing.

  1. 1
    Register or check your details

Tell me which Google Account you use in the Play Store. If you registered before, use your existing Fuel Finder account.

  2. 2
    Receive the closed-test invitation

I will add that address to the closed-test list and email the Google Play opt-in link.

  3. 3
    Opt in and install

Open the invitation using the same Google Account, accept the closed test in Google Play, then install Fuel Finder. Internal testers must leave the internal test first.

  4. 4
Test for at least 14 days

Stay continuously opted in, use the app on real journeys and report anything confusing, slow or broken.

  5. 5
    Receive Pro

I will confirm your reward after your participation is confirmed. There is one 12-month reward per tester, including anyone who joined an earlier round.

Fuel Finder account required

Sign in for the closed test

I use your Fuel Finder account to remember your testing status and apply the Pro reward to the right person.

Sign in or join for the closed test

You will return to this page after signing in. If you took part before, use your existing account.

Before you join

I registered or tested before. Do I need to join again?
You must opt in to this new closed test through its Google Play invitation. Earlier registration, installation or internal testing does not automatically enrol you. Use your existing Fuel Finder account to check your saved details, and email me if you need the new invitation. If you are in the internal test, leave it before joining the closed test.
How long do I need to test?
Stay continuously opted in to the closed test in Google Play for at least 14 consecutive days, keep the app installed, use it regularly and send useful feedback. The period starts when you opt in through Google Play, not when you register on this page.
Is the 12 months of Pro really free?
Yes. No card is required for the reward. It is one 12-month entitlement per tester across all testing rounds and is activated after your participation in the closed test is confirmed. Joining this new round does not add a second free year if you already received the tester reward.
What if I already pay for Pro?
Your existing subscription continues until you turn off renewal through Stripe or Google Play. Contact me to arrange reward activation after your paid access ends. I will confirm the dates; the free year is not used while you still have paid access.
Does registering here opt me in on Google Play?
No. I first add your Google Account to the closed-test access list. You then receive the invitation and must accept the closed test in Google Play using that same account before installing the app. Being added to the access list or marked as invited here does not complete that step.
Do I need a car with Android Auto?
No. The phone app and home-screen widget need testing too. If you do have Android Auto, your feedback on the driving experience is especially useful.
Can I leave the test?
Yes. You can withdraw your registration here before the invitation is prepared, or contact me afterwards. You can also leave the test through Google Play.
